This outreach experience is open to Families within the Special Operations Forces Community. Special Operation Forces Families are invited to join The Station Foundation for a meaningful day of service at the Topsail Community Garden. Volunteering in the garden is more than planting, weeding, or harvesting; it's an opportunity to strengthen our community, build new connections, and make a tangible difference in the lives of local families. Every hour spent caring for the garden helps provide nutritious produce to those experiencing food insecurity. Together, we'll cultivate not only fresh food but also compassion, gratitude, and a stronger sense of community. Come ready to get your hands dirty, meet great people, and be part of something that grows far beyond the garden. Your time and effort will help nourish both our neighbors and our community spirit. The Topsail Community Garden grows fresh, healthy produce that is donated exclusively to Share the Table, helping provide nutritious food to families experiencing food insecurity throughout Pender and Onslow Counties. More than a place to grow food, the garden brings people of all ages and abilities together to learn, serve, and strengthen the community through sustainable gardening, education, and volunteerism. New to Interwoven events with The Station? Welcome! Please note that a member of our outStation Camp Lejeune team will be in contact with you to share our mission and confirm your Special Operations Forces affiliation. 8:45 - 9:00 AM: Arrival and Check In 9:00 - 9:30 AM: Welcome and Program Overview 9:30 - 11:30 AM: Work in the Garden 11:30 - 12:00 PM: Lunch and Closing Reflections Event Details: Lunch & water provided. Please individually register for each person attending, including children. Young volunteers are welcome. The garden will have a variety of tasks available that are suitable for small children. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children. Please wear comfortable closed-toe shoes or rubber boots and dress in comfortable layers. We will be outside for the entirety of the event. Please bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and hand sanitizer. Bug spray, gardening tools, and gardening work gloves will be provided. The garden is located on a dirt road and is not stroller friendly. Child chest or back carriers will be helpful for small children. Parking is along the dirt road; please drive slowly and plan to get dirty. Restroom facilities are available (portable toilet only). Please invite a friend within the Special Operations Community who is new to The Station. This is a first come first serve event with a maximum capacity of 15 people.
